In September 1967, two friends (a boater and a tax accountant) created Recreation Publications, Inc. and published the first issue of Bay & Delta Yachtsman magazine. It was the first of its kind, featuring power and sailboats in the San Francisco Bay and Sacramento Delta areas. While Yachtsman quickly became the largest powerboat magazine in Northern California, the corporation began publishing Yachts For Sale magazine (the official publication of the California Yacht Brokers Association) in 1987, specializing in free distribution throughout the West Coast from Seattle to San Diego.

As pleasure boating became so popular in the 90’s,The Marina Guide (a comprehensive listing of Northern California marinas and marine services) was developed and Mariner Ink Corporation was created as the division which currently produces 5 chart books covering the entire west coast: Northwest, Oregon, Northern California, Southern California and Mexico to Panama. In 1996, Recreation Publications, Inc, added yet another service to the boating community: offering affordable print services through RecPub Print, LLC, our printing and publishing division.

During the past two decades, Yachts For Sale magazine has cruised past the competition by continually keeping the boating community in mind: as an affordable publication for buyers and sellers and now introducing YachtsForSale.com as the online nautical marketplace for brokers and boat dealers on the ‘net! This is a FREE service to nautical businesses, including marine loans, and insurance services!
