2009
Hello Scuttlebutt
readers ... I
have finally
finished upgrading
my computer system,
a long and difficult
battle with trons! At
least I'm 99%
functional with
some issues still
remaining.
What's happening
this weekend? Delta
Boat Racing in
Isleton -- Yippie!! Yes,
boat racing is
returning to
the Delta, October
3 & 4. Please
visit the website
for more details: www.deltaboatracing.com. I
will be there
taking photos
and enjoying
the fun! Hope
to see you there
too.
I spoke with
Tom Trainer,
owner of Delta
Yacht Sales,
today and he
was up beat about
the boat business. I
was happy to
hear some good
economic news
for a change. Also,
John (JT) Tourtellotte
has joined the
Delta Yacht Sales
team. JT
worked for Marine
Max prior to
coming to Delta
Yacht Sales.
The 62nd Annual Rio
Vista Bass Derby & Festival is
coming October
9-11. The
is the oldest
fishing derby
in the west! Enjoy
festivities all
weekend including: live
music, carnival,
vendors, soapbox
derby, arm wrestling
competition,
lunch & dinner
cruises, karaoke
contests, arts & crafts,
motorcycle and
car show, and
much more. Rio
Vista Chamber
of Commerce,
707-374-2700. Website: www.bassfestival.com
The weather has
taken a turn
and it is now
Fall in the Delta. To
me, it's the
most beautiful
time of the year
here so come
out and enjoy
some of it!
Sip some champagne
and enjoy the
Delta! Cheers,
Suzanne
..................................
Eight
Bells
We extend our
sincere condolences
to Ken Scheidegger
and family following
the sudden passing
of his wife,
Elvera Moore
Scheidegger. Elvera
was the daughter
of John Moore,
who was the original
owner of Moore's
Riverboat Restaurant. Ken
Scheidegger is
the President
and Founder of
the Discover
The Delta Foundation. In
lieu of flowers,
a memorial fund
has been set
up at the Discover
The Delta Foundation
to honor Elvera. If
you wish to contribute,
please send to: Discover
The Delta Foundation,
106 W. Brannan
Island Road,
Isleton, CA 95641.
We also mourn
the passing of
Tom Stumph who
passed suddenly
at the end of
September. Tom
was a local representative
for Hydro Hoist
Boat Lifts for
many years. He
was a friend
and super guy
who once rescued
me when I was
adrift in my
boat on the San
Joaquin River. I
remember him
fondly.

NOVEMBER
Coming Soon
DECEMBER
December 5: Discovery
Bay Chamber
of Commerce: 6th
Annual Discovery
Bay Parade
of Lights.
This year's
theme is: A
Storybook Holiday!
Float and Group
Registration
forms will
be available
starting next
month. Sponsorship
opportunities
are available
now, and support
is greatly
needed this
year. We
will have a
change of route
this year. The
parade will
not make a
left on Discovery
Bay Blvd. this
year (from
Riverlake Rd.). Instead,
the parade
will continue
straight along
Riverlake Road,
through the
DB Blvd intersection,
then make a
left on Sandpoint,
another left
on DB Blvd,
past the judging
booth on the
left side,
and left into
the shopping
center. This
new route will
solve the problem
of spacing
between floats
after the judging
booth, providing
a more continuous
flowing parade,
and easier
parking for
parade floats
at the end.

Amanda Dove
